The Lazy E-L Guest Ranch is a family-owned Montana working cattle ranch with 110 years of history. Homesteaded in 1901 by Malcolm S. Mackay, this dude ranch and livestock operation is now managed by fourth generation family members. Today, the Lazy E-L remains an historic, authentic working cattle ranch providing an escape from the hustle and bustle of big city life for corporate executives, politicians, prominent families and folks who love the West. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans rode here, Robert Redford has paid a visit. Famous western artist Charlie Russell signed the mantle in the Russell Cabin over a shared bottle of whiskey with Mr. Mackay. Our guests help us with finding strays, sorting bulls, and working a real cattle drive. Helping gather and move 2,650 yearlings from one pasture to the next on a cattle drive is one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences we share with our guests.

For your comfort and privacy, we book small groups and treat them as family. Unlike traditional dude ranches, this cattle ranch does not cater to large groups. You won't find a single nose-to-tail trail horse ride anywhere on the Lazy E-L.

Once settled in to your cabin, mosey down to the corral and meet your new partner...your horse! We'll show you how to tack, groom and care for your partner.
